====== Flashin OpenWRT on ZBT APG621 ====== ===== Introduction ===== * The ZBT APG621 is an outdoor 5G single radio unit. * It comes standard with an OEM version of OpenWRT * We like the hardware because it is * Cost effective * Runs OpenWRT (Which means we can use it with MESHdesk and APdesk) * Easy to flash * There is no standard release of OpenWRT for this device but the Atheros DB120 reference board firmware seems to work well enough for us. * https://forum.openwrt.org/t/alternative-firmware-for-zbt-apg621/37099 ===== Instructions ===== * We assume that you have some form of the DB120 OpenWRT firmware. * The device has a very handy bootloader called BREED. * To get the bootloader in flash mode you can do the following. * Connect the device to a computer which is on the 192.168.1.x sub-net. (e.g. give your computer an IP of 192.168.1.10) * Run a continuous ping to 192.168.1.1. * **Before** applying power, press the reset button and keep it in while powering up the device. * The device should start answering pings after ~15seconds. * Now you can release the reset button. * Go to your browser and enter the following URL * http://192.168.1.1 ==== The Interface ==== * Unfortunately the UI is in Chinese so you have to 'feel' your way around. {{ :user_guide:zbt:breed_1.png?nolink |}} * Select the second item on the left hand side * Select the item **under** Bootloader on the main page and pick your firmware file * Keep the check mark and click the only button (We assume it says something like upload) * It will submit the firmware and the next screen will give some info on the firmware {{ :user_guide:zbt:breed_2.png?nolink |}} * Click the button at the bottom to start flashing {{ :user_guide:zbt:breed_3.png?nolink |}} * You will see a progress bar that will give an indication how the procedure progresses. {{ :user_guide:zbt:breed_4.png?nolink |}}
