Support for various SSIDs per AP Profile

Background

  • Each AP Profile would typically have a couple of SSIDs defined.
  • A SSID in turn is then associated with an exit point.
  • These defined SSIDs would be applied to all the APs belonging to an AP Profile.
  • One of our clients require an option to set individual SSIDs/passwords on individual APs while having a single SSID that is also present on all APs.
  • To fulfill our client's requirement we did the following enhancements

Apply to all or selected APs

  • You can set a flag when defining a SSID to indicate if it should be applied to all APs.

Apply static SSID to AP

  • When adding or editing an AP to AP Profile one can now select from the pool of static entry points (Entry Points which does not have the Apply to all set)
  • Once you selected an item from the list, there is additional options to override certain items.
  • These are:
    • SSID
    • Pre-shared key (of the SSID has WEP or WPA Personal security set)
    • VLAN number if the selected SSID is connected to a VLAN type exit point.

Visual indication

  • To make things easy recognized we add a small visual indication in the AP list to show that the SSID value was overwritten.
