Two types of Vouchers

In RADIUSdesk the easiest way to create a new Voucher is by generating a Single Field Voucher. This type of Voucher has a name that is also the password of the Voucher. It is generated by RADIUSdesk by adding two words, making it easy to remember. Here is a sample of Single Field Vouchers:

Alternatively you can generate Vouchers with a username you define. RADIUSdesk then generates the password. This is called Username and Password Vouchers. Here is a sample of Username and Password Vouchers:

To switch between these two types of Vouchers:

  • Click on the Vouchers icon on the home page. The Voucher Window opens.

  • Click on the down-arrow next the the ADD button on the Action Toolbar in the Vouchers Window. This will open a drop-down list.

  • Select between Single Field Voucher or Username and Password Voucher in the drop-down list. By default it Single Field Voucher is selected. Your setting will remain until you change it again.

Create a New Single Field Vouchers

Vouchers are created for visitors to your WiFi Realm. As an example we want to generate voucher for customers at Bean There Coffee Shop. We want to allow them 1 Hour uncapped internet. Follow these steps.

  • On the Home Screen of RADIUSdesk click on the Vouchers Icon.

The Vouchers Window opens with a list of existing Vouchers.

  • Click the Add Button on the Action toolbar in the Voucher Window.

  • A New Voucher panel appears

  • Select Logged In user to pick yourself as the owner who will manage this Voucher.
  • Click Next to carry on to Voucher detail.
  • Select Bean There as the Realm in which the customers will have WiFi access from the Realm drop-down.
  • Select Time-Standard-1Hour from the Profiles drop-down list to give the customers 1 Hour of uncapped internet.

  • If you only want to create one Voucher leave the How many? field on 1 and click Next to Finish Voucher creation.

OR

  • If you want to create a batch of Vouchers with the same detail, fill in the number of Vouchers in the How many? field.

Another field, Batch Name appears.

  • Give the batch a name of your choice.
  • Click Next to finish Voucher creation.

Create New Username-and-Password Vouchers

  • Click on the Vouchers icon on the home page. The Voucher Window opens.

  • Click on the down-arrow next the the ADD button on the Action Toolbar in the Vouchers Window. This will open a drop-down list.

  • Select Username and Password Voucher in the drop-down list. By default it Single Field Voucher is selected. Your setting will remain until you change it again.
  • Click the Add Button on the Action toolbar in the Voucher Window.

  • A New Voucher panel appears

  • Select Logged In user to pick yourself as the owner who will manage this Voucher.
  • Click Next to carry on to Voucher detail.
  • In the Preceding String field fill in the letters you want the Voucher Usernames to begin with.
  • Select Bean There as the Realm in which the customers will have WiFi access from the Realm drop-down.
  • Select a Profile from the Profiles drop-down list e.g.Time-Standard-1Hour to give the customers 1 Hour of uncapped internet.

* Fill the number of Vouchers you want into the How many? field.

  • Give the batch a name of your choice.
  • SCROLL DOWN in the panel to see the next item.

  • Choose the Password length by dragging the scroller to the number of your choice. Five digits is easy to use.
  • Click Next to finish Voucher creation.

According to the screen shots, RADIUSdesk would now have created a batch of 100 Vouchers with names UP-000001 to UP-000100 with random 5digit passwords like “fZ4Pg” and “k2FnP”.

Activation and Expiry options for Vouchers

Activate Time Vouchers upon first login

When handing out 1Hour or 1Day Vouchers it is best if the Voucher only activates when the customer logs in for the first time. This way you can print out a Voucher batch and distribute it over a week or so. The time limit of the Voucher will only start counting down upon first login.

To select this option while you are busy creating a New Voucher:

  • Click on the Activate and Expire tab in the New Voucher Panel.
  • Click the check-box to select Activate upon first login. Three fields appear.

  • Select how long a time you want the Voucher to remain valid under the Days available after first login.

With this option you can allow your customer to use a 1 Hour Voucher for 15 minutes at a time over four days if you select 4 in the above mentioned field.

To select this option after you already created a Voucher:

* On the Home Screen of RADIUSdesk click on the Vouchers Icon.

The Vouchers Window opens with a list of existing Vouchers.

  • Click on the Voucher you want to Edit.
  • Click the Edit Button on the Action toolbar in the Voucher Window. The selected Voucher's tab opens.

* Click the check-box to select Activate upon first login. Three fields appear.

* Select how long a time you want the Voucher to remain valid under the Days available after first login.

  • Click Save.

Set an Expiry Date for Vouchers

By default Vouchers are set to never expire. To give an Expiry date to a batch of Voucher while busy creating the batch:

* Click on the Activate and Expire tab in the New Voucher Panel

  • Click the check-box to deselect Never Expire option. Another field appears.

  • Select an Expiry Date from the calendar in the Expire field.

To select this option after you already created a Voucher:

* On the Home Screen of RADIUSdesk click on the Vouchers Icon.

The Vouchers Window opens with a list of existing Vouchers.

  • Click on the Voucher you want to Edit.
  • Click the Edit Button on the Action toolbar in the Voucher Window. The selected Voucher's tab opens.

* Click the check-box to deselect Never Expire option.

  • SCROLL DOWN in the panel to see the next item.
  • Select an Expiry Date from the calendar in the Expire field.
  • Click Save.

Change a Voucher Password

The password of a Single field type Voucher cannot be changed. To change the password of a Username-Password type Voucher:

* Click on the Vouchers Icon on the Home Screen of RADIUSdesk.

The Vouchers Window opens with a list of existing Vouchers.

  • Click on the Voucher you want to Edit.
  • Click on the Password icon on the Extra Actions Toolbar. A panel appears.

  • Type in the new password in the given field.

  • Click OK to finish.

To print all or some of your existing Vouchers, you can generate a printable .pdf file. Follow these steps:

  • Click the Vouchers icon on the home page. The Voucher Window opens.

  • Select the Vouchers you want to print. (If you want to print all the Vouchers you don't have to select anything).
  • Click on the PDF icon on the Documents toolbar in the Vouchers Window. A Generate PDF Panel opens,

  • Select the format from the Output Format drop-down list.

  • Tick off Only Selected if you don't want to print all the Vouchers but just those you selected two steps up.
  • Click on the Advanced tab in the Generate PDF Panel.
  • SCROLL DOWN in the panelto browse through items you can add to or omit from the PDF

  • Click OK to view the PDF.

If your browser does not support PDF, the file will be downloaded to your pc instead of viewed.

Export a CSV list of Vouchers

  • Simply click on the Export to CSV button to bring up a dialog box that will offer you a choice of columns to include.
  • When you click OK your browser will download the CSV file and may offer you the option to open it with a specified program.
